Lenz Privacy Policy
Last updated 4 November 2026
In short: Lenz keeps your account, the footage you give it and the clips it makes, so it can edit and publish them for you. It processes video on our own server, never with an outside AI service. It uses your YouTube account only to find your channel and to upload the clips you choose to publish. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who we are
Lenz is made by Trisphere ("we", "us"). It runs at lenz.trisphere.org. For anything in this policy, email [email protected].
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and a one-way hash of your password. We never store the password itself.
- Your footage: videos you upload, import from a SheekBot clip link or send from your own scripts, and the clips, vertical versions, captions and caption files Lenz makes from them.
- Edits: the start and end points of your clips, suggested-clip scores, and the titles, descriptions and tags you enter when publishing.
- Upload tokens: for each token you create, its name, when it was made and last used, and a one-way fingerprint of it. We can't recover a token from what we store.
- Your YouTube connection: if you connect YouTube, the access and refresh tokens Google gives us, when they expire, and your channel's ID and name.
- Publishing history: for each upload, its status, any error, and the ID and link of the resulting YouTube video.
- Technical records: a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in, and error records that help us fix problems.
How we use it
Only to run Lenz for you: to sign you in, store and play your footage, suggest clips, crop them to a vertical frame, transcribe and caption them, and publish them where you ask. Speech transcription and face detection run on a server we operate. Your footage is not sent to any outside AI or transcription service, and it is not used to train AI models.
YouTube and Google user data
Lenz uses YouTube API Services. When you connect YouTube, Lenz asks Google for two permissions:
- View your YouTube account (
youtube.readonly): used once when you connect, to read your channel's ID and name so Lenz can show which channel is connected. - Manage your YouTube videos (
youtube.upload): used only when you press publish, to upload that clip to your channel with the title, description and tags you entered. Uploads start as unlisted.
Lenz doesn't read, change or delete your other videos, comments, playlists or analytics. Lenz's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use YouTube data only to provide the publishing you ask for; we don't sell it, use it for advertising or use it to train AI models, and no person at Trisphere reads it except with your permission, for security, or where the law requires.
By connecting YouTube you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of your data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. You can revoke Lenz's access at any time from your Google account's third-party connections page (also reachable at security.google.com/settings/security/permissions). Once you revoke it, the stored tokens stop working; ask us and we'll delete them too.
Who we share it with
- Google / YouTube, when you connect your channel or publish a clip, as described above.
- SheekBot, only in the other direction: when you paste a SheekBot clip link, Lenz downloads that clip's public video.
- Our hosting provider, which runs the server Lenz and its database live on, and Cloudflare, which answers DNS for lenz.trisphere.org.
We don't sell personal data or share it for advertising. We may disclose data if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, footage, clips and YouTube connection for as long as your account exists, so your work stays where you left it. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your footage, clips, captions, tokens and YouTube connection, and remove your account details from the database. The database is backed up nightly: copies on the server are kept for 14 days, and encrypted off-site copies for up to 12 months, so a deleted record can survive in a backup until that backup expires. Finished clips and captions are also in the encrypted off-site copies, on the same terms. The original footage you upload isn't backed up, so keep your own copy. Backups are only used to restore the service. Videos you published to YouTube stay on YouTube until you delete them there.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete some or all of it, by emailing [email protected] from your account's email address. Upload tokens can be revoked yourself on the tokens page in Lenz. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law; we'll honour them.
Security
Lenz is served over HTTPS. Passwords and upload tokens are stored only as one-way hashes, the server accepts administrative access only over a private network, and the database is reachable only from the server itself. To report a vulnerability, email [email protected].
Children
Lenz is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and for meaningful changes we'll tell account holders by email before they take effect.
